FollowerDiff is a small independent tool created by NickDidIt for analyzing Instagram follower and following exports. This policy explains what information the tool processes, what may be stored, and how that information is used.
1. Information processed locally
Your Instagram ZIP export is opened and analyzed in your browser. The ZIP itself, follower and following lists, mutual-follower results, pending requests, recently unfollowed lists, and other relationship data are not uploaded to FollowerDiff's server.
To support local history and comparison features, FollowerDiff may save a compact copy of follower and following snapshot data in your browser's IndexedDB storage on your device. This locally saved history is not transmitted to FollowerDiff's analytics database.
2. Information that may be stored
After a successful analysis, FollowerDiff may store the Instagram username associated with the export for internal analytics and record-keeping purposes. The username is ordinarily determined from the original Instagram export filename. FollowerDiff may also store the app version, the version of this policy in effect at the time of use, and the date and time of the analysis.
3. How stored information is used
Stored usernames and related metadata are used only to understand use of the tool, troubleshoot the service, maintain basic usage records, and improve FollowerDiff. This information is not sold, rented, used for advertising, or intentionally released publicly.
4. Information FollowerDiff does not intentionally store on its server
FollowerDiff does not intentionally store your Instagram password, authentication cookies, downloaded ZIP file, follower list, following list, relationship results, direct messages, photos, or other unrelated Instagram account content on its server or analytics database. Follower and following snapshots used by local history may remain in your browser on your own device as described above.
5. Local browser storage
If you mark an account as unavailable, that preference is stored in your browser's local storage so the tool can remember it on that device. FollowerDiff also uses IndexedDB to retain local history snapshots containing usernames, profile links when present, relationship timestamps when present, follower/following counts, the source filename, and the time the snapshot was saved.
You can delete individual saved snapshots or clear all local history from the FollowerDiff interface. Clearing browser site data may also remove these records. Local browser data stays on that device and is not synchronized by FollowerDiff between browsers or devices.
6. Service providers and infrastructure
FollowerDiff uses Cloudflare infrastructure for its small analytics API and database. Like other internet infrastructure providers, Cloudflare may process technical request information needed to deliver and secure requests. FollowerDiff does not intentionally add IP addresses to its analytics database.
7. Data retention
Analytics and record-keeping information may be retained for as long as reasonably useful for operating and improving the tool. Records may be deleted or anonymized at the owner's discretion.
8. Sharing and disclosure
FollowerDiff does not sell or rent stored information. Information may be disclosed if required by law, to protect the service or its users, or to service providers that operate infrastructure on FollowerDiff's behalf.
9. Access, correction, and deletion
If you believe FollowerDiff has stored your username and you want that record reviewed, corrected, or deleted, contact NickDidIt through the project owner. Reasonable requests will be handled where the relevant record can be identified.
10. Security
Reasonable technical measures are used to limit what the tool transmits and stores. No internet service or database can guarantee absolute security.
11. Children
FollowerDiff is not directed to children and is intended for people who are permitted to use Instagram and provide their own exported account data.
12. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as FollowerDiff changes. The effective date and policy version shown at the top of this page identify the current version.
